I’ve been having a slight love affair with Cacharel’s unique prints lately.  First I found this crystal burst skirt from my previous post and now I’m loving this abstract brick print on their shirt dress!  You don’t see long sleeve mini-dresses that often and they are actually a very interesting contrast of covering up and showing some leg.  Keeping with the theme of soft, fluid silks, I added my favorite Jigsaw London scarf to blend into this color mélange.

I wanted to tell you about a little project I’ve been working on…Living in the Bay Area, I’m constantly surrounded by technology and innovation whether its a technology project I’m working on at work or talking with friends about their next startup idea.  But, I’ve always loved the idea of using technology to connect people with what they love, and in my case–that’s fashion!

I’ve teamed up with the global software company SAP and have been working as a member of their Advisory Panel on the creation of one of the newest fashion apps available, My Runway!  My Runway was originally released in China and was so popular that it has just been released for the US as well.  I’ve spent the past month testing out the app, playing with features, giving my feedback on what’s hot and what needs some work, and I’m really excited that the app is now live and ready for you to try it out too!  I wanted to share some of my favorite features with you and hear back what you think of the app.

Brand

The Brand section allows you to follow all of your favorite brands to stay up to date on the newest trends as well as current sales (my favorite part, ever). You can choose from a list of about 200 brands or even request more if your favorite one is not part of the list yet. The section distinguishes between Favorite and Hot–fave are your own chosen favorite brands, hot are the brands with the highest user followings and are most popular on My Runway.

Trend

The Trend section is divided into new and hot–you will get the newest items that were added to the brands you are following in New and the hottest trends according to all users of My Runway in Hot. You can set your own filters based on categories, styles and even price ranges to filter on certain trends in this section. It also lets you put individual items on your Wish List (using the bag with the heart icon). Tapping on an item gives you detailed information like price, colors and sizes available as well as the closest store depending on your current location. My favorite part? You can call the store directly to see if they have your item in stock directly from the app.  Where has this app been all my life?!?

Promo

The  Promo section alerts you on all the sales events going on for either the brands you are following or ALL brands. If you let My Runway send you push notifications you will also be alerted about promotions.  I like to think of these push notifications as Stop-What-You’re-Doing-There-Is-A-Sale-Going-On notifications.

Wish List

The Wish List section is both your wish list and wardrobe! You can put every item you like on your wish list (using the bag with the heart icon) and share your list on your social media channels. You can indicate whether you want somebody to buy an item for you (maybe for your next birthday, wink wink) or share that you have just bought it yourself! Leaving a comment on your recent purchases gives other app users ideas of what the item is actually like (fabric, quality, etc).  You can of course also take your own pictures of items you just bought or already have in your closet directly from the app.

And last, the Reward section is not only your profile page but also keeps track of your status level and points earned. Check-in on the app at various stores and you earn points towards promotional deals and discounts for the brand.  You can also search users and invite friends from here as well!

So that’s a summary of My Runway!  It was JUST released to the public this past week (available on the Apple App Store as well as on Android’s Google Play) so I’m looking for people to follow on it so that I can start seeing where everyone is shopping and see what pieces you are styling.  Have you guys downloaded My Runway yet? We have all been there before….  You look out the window to check the weather and everything looks good.  You check the temperature on your phone and it seems reasonable.  …Yet once you have crafted your outfit and done your hair, you step outside and are bombarded by a wall of wind.  That was the case for me on this windy day when I didn’t have the best of luck with my outfit or hair being wind-proof.  We took these photos for about three minutes before it became just too comical to bear and it turned into a wind fueled laughing session.  Check out the HILAROUS outtakes below!

A few posts back I shared that I was revamping my closet–taking out the existing rods and shelving and completely rearranging the setup to maximize my space.  Well…the project isn’t over yet unfortunately :(

Since the project is still underway, my closet has taken over the rest of my apartment and clothing is EVERYWHERE.  Its been a nightmare to live with but its been a wonderful opportunity to clean though my stuff and see what pieces I want to keep and what I want to donate or share with my Just Add Glam readers in my Poshmark closet.

While I was sifting through my clothes, I realized that I have a major crush on digital prints…and especially this Alexander McQueen dress that I scored at one of my favorite San Francisco designer deals shops.  I love the mirrored effect to the print, the intricate colors, and the amount of detail which makes me want to look at every inch of this dress.

As annoying as it is to have my closet still be in a state of TBD…I’m happy that I rediscovered one of my favorite Alexander McQueen pieces (tied with this other McQueen dress last seen here) to give it its time to shine.  My fingers are crossed that my closet will be finished this weekend!

Acrimony

Acrimony is my FAVORITE for casual, essential pieces that last forever with excellent quality and craftsmanship. The shop’s layout is perfect for casual shopping and the staff is super attentive and helpful in selecting pieces for you or friends and family. When I’m looking for high-quality basics and unique pieces…Acrimony is my place.

Azalea

I love Azalea because I know I can always find something unique here. I love this boutique for its boots and leather jackets as well as some of the more girly, flirty dresses. They throw a lot of events here too which is always fun to check out! Nothing like a little shopping and champagne!

Jeremy’s Department Store

Its no secret that I’m a designer deals girl. I love checking out the sales at Jeremy’s for super high-end designer goods but at a fraction of the price. One of my favorite scores was a pair of Manolo Blahnik flats for $38 (originally $565). However, since many of the items are from runway or sample sales, they can be damaged and require some love from your local alternations lady or shoe guy. But in my opinion, the thrill of the designer hunt is too exciting to pass up the sales at Jeremy’s!

Pinkies Nail Salon

I love heading over to Pinkies in Potrero Hill for my idea of a relaxing happy hour–getting a manicure and pedicure while shopping for on-trend fashion jewelry. The setting of the salon is great because it is more than just a nail salon. It truly is a spa boutique with large displays of necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings carefully curated and decorated amongst the salon. As far as nail services, I love how Pinkies has by far the largest collection of gel nail polish colors in all of San Francisco–they must have over 50 different shades. The staff is amazingly sweet and attentive and really make you feel like you are a guest in their nail-boutique-of-happiness home.

Azadeh

For special events, I like to have a dress or gown that makes me feel unique from the rest of the crowd. Enter Azadeh. I discovered this couture boutique a few months ago and since then have been incredibly impressed with their designs. Their collections always are impressive with the excellent tailoring techniques and use the most gorgeous fabrics I’ve ever seen (all hand selected and sourced from Paris). They have locations in San Francisco, Beverly Hills, and New York City and can work directly with you to ensure your dress or gown fits perfectly like a glove. For a party dress to wow them all, all you need is Azadeh!

I have a business background and when I found this Forbes article about Keaton Row, that definitely piqued my interest… I just joined the fashion community and am excited to see the various lookbooks that are created.  Have you guys tried Keaton Row yet or another form of online personal styling?  What has been your experience with it?  I’d love to hear! I can’t even begin to explain how incredible the weather has been in San Francisco lately!  Its been pure paradise…seems like I should have called in sick at work today (just kidding!).

Given the beautiful weather, it turned out that I picked the wrong weekend to undertake my closet construction project.  Since I was playing around with paint, hammers, and power tools (yes, this fashionista knows how to build stuff too!) I ditched my favorite skirts and went for a look that was back to the basics….worn in jeans and a T-shirt.  Once we finished off the last coat of paint in my new closet, I took my outfit from job-site to relaxed-Sunday-dinner by swapping out my Nike Frees, seen on Instagram here for some Coach heels and one of my favorite asymmetrical tops.

So here is my shopping list…I’m ready to add a fun and unique pair to my closet but the hardest part is choosing which pair!  Help…which pair do you love??

I recently was shopping around for an espresso machine and one of my friends recommended I check out the selection at Kohls.  I didn’t find what I was looking for (I ended up getting this amazing Nespresso machine!) but I did find this Derek Lam for DesigNation dress!  Its a bit shorter than the dresses I normally wear but I loved the unexpected mix of colors and angled shapes so I decided to go for it.  I played up the geometric angles print on the dress with some fun Gucci platforms.  I don’t wear these heels very often but the soft grey color was such a complimentary match…they needed to be worn together.  I finished off my look with a copper metallic Olivia Harris crossbody that is the perfect size for carrying around my essentials (hello, iPhone!).
