what to wear to a summer wedding

I was so excited when my brother Andrew (whom you last saw on Just Add Glam, styled up for Banana Republic x Milly here…) called me asking for help styling up a summer wedding outfit.  A family friend invited us to their summer wedding and I was already buzzing in excitement to style up our outfits for the occasion.

However, dressing for a summer wedding didn’t come easily at first.  My favorite color for fabrics is white or off-white and I found myself reaching for white dresses given the warm weather.  Since wearing white to a wedding is taboo, I decided to style Andrew and myself in lively color to celebrate the season and festivities.

Since we were both wearing lighter, summer fabrics I wanted add some richer accessories that would add polish but would still be vibrant.  I decided to go with a lovely fuchsia silk scarf from Edwin Pireh that I’m absolutely in love with–tied at my neck, and a complementary silk tie (again from Edwin Pireh) for Andrew.  I discovered Edwin Pireh about six months ago and really fell in love with the high quality silk and craftsmanship, and the way they combine the best aspects of design from around the world–based in Sydney, woven in England, and printed in Italy.  I love handmade pieces that are well made and will last for a lifetime–definitely the right pieces for us to wear for the occasion!

Bright fuchsia scarf, lips, and heels completed my look against a sunny yellow dress, and Andrew looked as dapper as Mad Men’s Don Draper in his seersucker suit and crisp silk tie–loosened for a bit of a casual weekend look.  Needless to say we had a great time dressing up and a great time celebrating.  Cheers!
