I recently designed and completed a home improvement project to build out my shoe closet with some help from The Container Store. I previously had three of these chrome shoe racks and it was starting to take over my apartment–haha–so I needed a better solution! I had a corner of my space between a support beam and a wall that was not being used and suddenly I thought, “Hmm how about building my dream shoe closet here?” I loved the idea of floor to ceiling shelves and started drawing out a blueprint with measurements, dimensions, and materials needed. I’m really impressed with how easy it was to get these pieces custom cut to size and installed–as long as you can use a power drill, you can do this too–and I love how it turned out. Yay for a happy home for my shoes! If you guys are interested, maybe I can share more details of the project in a future post?
On the topic of shoes (is there a better topic? I think not.), I recently shared that I’m an ambassador for the fashion app Shoes Dsire! Being a San Francisco native and working in the tech space, I’m always looking out for new apps that intersect fashion and technology, and Shoes Dsire is my latest discovery to share with my friends. The app allows you to snap shoes (from that girl at the coffee shop with the must have boots!), find similar styles based on the image, and shop right from your phone. I’ve been curating my shoe closet through the app for more boots, heels, and flats that I have on my wishlist–to eventually get them into my shoe closet at home. Check out the app here to snap, find, and shop too!
