This summer I’ve teamed up with my friends over at Jigsaw London to take you away on their trip around the country to explore, discover, and escape to new places in style! They have teamed up with 10 style experts from all over the US to get their insider tips on where to stay, what to eat and of course, what to wear! The first stop is my take on San Francisco…so click on over here to read the feature on Jigsaw Says–or keep reading below!
San Francisco has been my home over the past twenty years from when I moved here as a child and all the way up to today, and I still am in awe over its charm. I love when friends come to visit me and my city by the bay, and even on occasion I take a weekend to play tourist and have a little staycation of my own in lovely San Francisco.
This past weekend, I did just that. I picked out my favorite places around the city to stay, to eat, to shop, and to just enjoy. Come with me on my weekend in San Francisco…
Where to Stay
Hotel Zetta, 55 5th St., San Francisco, CA 94103
I like to be in the middle of all of the hustle and bustle of San Francisco so my ideal hotel location is around Union Square. I love Hotel Zetta for being a small boutique hotel with unique details and a great atmosphere. The hotel definitely gives off a tech-sexy edge that is so prevalent in San Francisco and has become a major local hot spot. I love the lobby décor and the giant plinko wall next to the bar. To relax, the rooms come stocked with Illy espresso machines, amazingly soft pillows, and a sleek spa-like bathroom.
Where to Shop
Jigsaw London and the Fillmore Street Shops in Pacific Heights, 2121 Fillmore St, San Francisco, CA 94115
One of my favorite shopping areas in San Francisco is the Fillmore street shops. This cute street is home to tons of one of a kind shops and my personal favorite, Jigsaw London! I love the fashion at Jigsaw London for its ability to bring British style statesite–with their love for color, obsession with knitwear, and an eccentric mix of patterns, color, and shapes. There are only four Jigsaw London boutiques in the United States so stopping by while visiting San Francisco is a MUST.
Where to Explore
San Francisco Ferry Building, 1 Sausalito – San Francisco Ferry Bldg, San Francisco, CA 94111
The San Francisco Ferry Building is many amazing things all rolled into one architecturally beautiful building—a marketplace for artisan food and crafts, an outdoor farmers market, a transit hub connecting the ferries across the entire Bay Area, and a place to check out great views of the ‘other’ San Francisco bridge. Taste some cheese at Cowgirl Creamery, have a coffee at Blue Bottle Coffee, and if you’re there after sunset, check out the Bay Bridge lights!
Where to Get (Hair) Styled
DiPietro Todd, 177 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
Most people typically get their haircut / hair color before going on a weekend getaway but if you’re in need of some hair love, I’m fortunately letting you in on my San Francisco hair secret. I’ve been a long time client at DiPietro Todd where Brian keeps my color fresh and vibrant, and Lauren makes sure that my cut is perfectly balanced and easy to style. If you’re not looking for a cut or color, the salon also is home to a fantastic blowout that is an absolute prerequisite for a fab night out with a great head of hair.
Where to Eat and Lounge
Gitane, 6 Claude Lane, San Francisco, CA 94108
You’ll need to walk down an alley in Union Square to find Gitane—but not to worry—this alleyway feels like you’ve stepped out into a quaint European town. The alley is filled with sidewalk café tables and umbrellas and is home to my favorite restaurant and bar in San Francisco, Gitane. Walking into Gitane just feels rich and decadent with old world charm as evidenced by the long bar and enormous sultry tapestry. I recommend any of their hand-crafted cocktails and the bacon bon bons—they aren’t on the menu but ask for them anyway.
