I like to keep my home office a creative and inspiring place and lately I’ve been playing with scented candles to transform my space. Diptyque recently launched La Collection 34 which smells just like the Paris candle-making workspace at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain (read: smells amazing) so I picked up my own candle to experience that aroma. Along with the beautiful smelling candle, I picked up this fun printed notebook as well…perfect for my never ending to-do lists!
My mom’s birthday was this past weekend and I was in charge of the birthday cake. I wanted to do something different and was inspired by the donut-cake concept so I decided to pick up a handful of different delicious sweets from the Whole Foods bakery and assemble. I picked out a chocolate eclair, cupcakes (one shaped like a dog, obviously.), vegan chocolate donut, banana tart, fruit tart, and various french macarons. Arranging the different sweets into a ‘cake’ of sorts was really fun and it definitely upped the wow factor when my family saw it. I think this might just be my new signature ‘birthday cake’!
But sometimes too much ‘birthday cake’ can be a major sugar load, yikes! To offset the naughty sugar indulgences I hit the reset button with a Project Juice one-day juice cleanse. I’ve done Project Juice’s cleanses in the past but this time I was looking for something a bit more hardcore with a focus on the green juices to get in as many vitamins and nutrients as possible. The Forever Young cleanse definitely isn’t for the faint of heart because its hardcore but I loved it. The EZ Green juice is my favorite and ending the day with the creamy and sweet Almond Mylk is such a treat. You guys have to try this!
As far as I’m concerned, Sundays are for brunching and exploring. After brunching with friends this past weekend, we stumbled on this amazing record store in San Francisco’s North Beach district. It’s always fun to find new-to-you places in your own city!

Been really meaning to try a juice cleanse – or else just introduce more juice like this into my diet. It’s a bit hard though, I am looking for a cheaper version of awesome juices! http://meowemily.blogspot.com/

Emily — I totally hear you on the budget factor. Most juices I’ve seen are about $5-7 per bottle because of the organic ingredients and the sheer amount of how much fruit and veg goes into making one bottle. It’s pricey, true, but consider it an investment in your health! Another cost savings would be to make your own juice!
