One of the many reasons I’ve been excited about moving into my new house is that I’ll finally have a fireplace and mantel. I grew up with a fireplace at home and I’m glad that I’ll have my own to gather around with friends and also decorate. I’ve been changing my mantel practically everyday because I’m changing my mind about the decor or am still figuring out where to put things in the house–but using this gold mirror as an anchor in each look. I was inspired by The Maids to snap four of my favorite mantel-scapes (yes, I think I just invented that word!) that you can recreate in your home or apartment too. No mantel? No problem! You can easily use these ideas for a shelf or counter.
The Minimalist
The mantel above is pretty sleek, focused on simple ceramic vases and a vintage-looking marquee light. I like this look because its fresh, its modern, its a little hipster. In general, I’m a neutrals girl when it comes to decor and prefer whites, cremes, and browns. This mantel speaks to me!
The Green Thumb
When I do add color to my decor, I like to aim for pops of green because it gives a vibrance to the home. I added these little potted plants from The Sill, how cute are they?! Decorative apples in a mercury glass bowl give a nice glam and lush touch, and this peaceful candle smells incredible.
The Girly Girl
If you love all things girly and instagramable, this mantel is for you. I originally was planning to add a bookshelf to display books but changed my mind after reading The Maids tips for organizing small spaces. My girly side likes being able to display my favorite coffee table books front and center for guests to flip through while adding a gorgeous bouquet from local San Francisco favorite Farmgirl Flowers. A bright little bowl for odds and ends (mine holds random hair-ties I find around the house!) and a bright pink candle round out my girly girl mantel!
The Classic Romantic
The Classic Romantic mantel is for the girl dreaming of fresh croissant and café au lait in Paris. This look is classic, sophisticated, and draws on French glamour. I found this stone bust as Marshalls and instantly knew I needed it because it’s just so cool and a fun find. Blush roses in a mint julep cup create the perfect bouquet bunch.
Which fireplace mantelscape is your favorite? How often do you mix up your home decor to change the look of your space?

My mantle could use some serious help (we’re shamelessly using it for small-item storage right now – yeesh!) I really like the 4th look – I think I could get away with that one. Once I clear everything off it, that is! 🙂
