Top: Banana Republic // Cardigan: Simply Vera by Vera Wang // Skirt: JCrew, similar here // Belt: Banana Republic, similar here // Tights: Hue, similar here // Shoes: Banana Republic, similar here // Clutch: Judith Leiber // Earrings: Banana Republic
So I just realized that I went a little crazy with all of the Banana Republic in this post…but it all goes so well together! I promise my next post will be lighter on the BR…if not completely BR free 🙂
This past week I had an event to attend that was more of a conservative and professional crowd and needed a cocktail attire type outfit that was still “work friendly”. I decided on basic black as my main concept and then branched out with small details of gold and silver to make this outfit more party and less office.
My favorite piece in this look is this JCrew brocade skirt! The material is rich and ornate, so its a fun piece to pull out for special parties and events. To juxtapose the shimmery skirt, I wore a sheer argyle patterned tight to play up the sophisticated side of the outfit by complimenting the belted waist and pencil skirt. And I finished off the rest of the look with platform pumps and silver and gold earrings to round out all of my little details on my black canvas.
What are your office rules when it comes to fashion? Bring on the fashion….or save it for the weekend?

I love everything about this outfit! The shoes, the skirt, the tights, the bag. Great outfit! I’m trying to be more bold in my fashion choices for work but I’m still pretty tame.

Thanks Meg! I wouldn’t wear this to the office personally….only to the office party 😉 My favorite way to express fashion at work is through colored/embellished cardigans and bold shoes while keeping all the rest more professional/neutral
