Well friends, we’re at that point in time again where spring cleaning is definitely in full swing. While I know this isn’t the most enjoyable time of the year, it’s honestly so necessary in order to ensure we’re setting ourselves, and our homes, up for success. After months of cold weather and staying inside, it’s time to fluff those blankets, open the windows, and refresh your home! I seriously love going through the closets, all of our clothes, the pantry and refrigerator, and even (dare I say it) the basement and garage areas. I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes I really do enjoy cleaning around the house, and calling it “spring cleaning” definitely motivates me to get the job done during this time of year. Spring cleaning can be time consuming and all around not a fun job, but I’m here to help you save time with these best kept spring cleaning tips and secrets! My favorite of them all being using CLORALEN® Disinfectant Bleach across the board! CLORALEN is strong enough to clean your home but delicate enough to maintain the quality of your clothing so it’s the perfect addition to your spring cleaning routine. Check out all of my spring cleaning hacks to help you save time when it comes to cleaning.
Spring Cleaning Tips
Essential oils
Okay so this may not seem like a cleaning hack, but it is in its own right. If you don’t already have an essential oil diffuser, this is your sign to get one! I absolutely love starting off any cleaning day with dropping 5-10 drops of orange essential oils into my diffuser. Not only does it smell absolutely amazing, it will help to lift your mood and make your home smell fantastic. If this smell doesn’t motivate you to want to clean up your home, I don’t know what will! Oh! Also try a combination of lime and mint – that smells great too!
Set up music
Turn on your bluetooth speaker, choose your favorite playlist, and let’s get cleaning! Music motivates me more than I realize and definitely helps me get the job done. I feel like listening to music while cleaning helps the time go by and it helps to distract me from actually thinking about the cleaning I’m doing. There’s even a playlist on Spotify called The Ultimate Cleaning Playlist that’s amazing for inspiring a cleaning mindset.
Now onto the real cleaning hacks…

Gather your cleaning supplies
Before washing your hands (which is a must before cleaning begins) I think the best first step to any cleaning job is to make sure you have all of your cleaning supplies in one place. Once you’ve found everything you have, look through all of it and get rid of anything that is out of date. You may be overwhelmed by the amount of products you have, so make sure to look through them to see what you really need versus what’s taking up unnecessary space. Pro Tip: setting up a cleaning caddy with all of the supplies you need may also be a great time saver for you too!
Do it in sections
Cleaning your home can be a huge job, so taking it day by day, section by section, can help to ease the overwhelming feeling of cleaning the entire house. Sectioning off your house into cleaning areas and designating one day to the kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, etc. I find that doing this helps to ease any anxieties I’m feeling from this huge task and helps to keep me on schedule with the cleaning that’s been done and what still needs to be done.
Disinfect the right places
Disinfect when necessary! Many people don’t know that it’s actually not necessary to use a disinfectant every time you clean, or on every surface. It’s all about that balance. Obviously cleaning high-touch areas like doorknobs, fridge handles, remote controls, and countertops are considered “right places.” Our fan favorite disinfectant is the CLORALEN Disinfectant Bleach! It’s amazing for everyday use, as it disinfects, deep cleans, and whitens! It’s basically a holy grail product that you need to get for your spring cleaning adventures. The power of bleach is a great way to disinfect properly. Did you know that bleach is actually more effective as a disinfectant when diluted with water? Try 1/2 cup beach with 1 gallon of water and see what happens! It’s incredibly important, especially with the season of life we’re all in currently, to disinfect after having visitors and especially if someone in your household is sick. You never know what bacteria is laying around so it’s best to tackle those surfaces with CLORALEN. When disinfecting your countertops, make sure you’re not using CLORALEN on any porous surfaces.
Overall, spring cleaning may not be your favorite time of year, but it can be made easier and quicker with CLORALEN Disinfectant Bleach! We used this when cleaning our home and both of our Airbnb’s to ensure the best stays for ourselves and our guests. Thanks to CLORALEN, I know my home is disinfected and safe for my family. Bring on spring!
