PLAYA DEL CARMEN FAVORITES

FullSizeRender 5

I recently traveled to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and absolutely loved the experience and the travel memories–can I go back now please?  Expedia.com asked me to round up some of my favorite highlights to share must-do activities and places to check out–see my favs below!

The Palm at La Playa Roof Pool

We booked the Palm at La Playa based on online photos only and it seemed pretty good.  But when we saw it in person?  The hotel was amazing!  This hotel is not your typical all-inclusive resort, but is rather a boutique hotel focused on guest service and a very trendy vibe.  The hotel’s roof deck pool is a must if you’re staying at the hotel, if not you can get a day pass to attend.  Cabana beds in the water offer a lux spot to relax in the warm afternoon sun while the amazing staff bring over another mango margarita.

100% Natural Restaurant

100% Natural restaurant is located right in the middle of the main strip in Playa Del Carmen in the middle of all of the touristy restaurants and shops.  I typically like to seek out the ‘hidden gems’ while traveling but this gem was out in the open.  I was craving healthy, organic food while in Mexico (you can’t have pastor tacos for every meal…. can you??) so it was refreshing to find a place specializing in farm to table fare.  I loved the veggie omelet and pressed juices.

If you’re staying in Playa Del Carmen, you have to take a day trip to Cozumel on the Cozumel Ferry.  The 45 minute ferry was such a fun experience for the lively passengers to people-watch, the musical performances, and the inexpensive cervezas.  Be sure to rent a Jeep on the island and go to some off the grid beaches for beautiful snorkeling.

I’m not a fan of the uber-touristy stuff, but this catamaran trip was incredible.  We booked a daily excursion from Maroma Adventures for a day-long snorkeling trip.  The ride out to the reef was great, gliding through the bright blue water while sitting on the catamaran netting.  There were so many interesting types of reef and fish to look at, I found myself being the last one back on the boat!  Before heading back into shore, the crew pulled out a sail swing and let us take turns floating up into the air, swinging side to side, and finally counting 3…2…1 and jumping off into the water.  It was SO. MUCH. FUN.

Have you guys traveled to Playa Del Carmen?  I’d love to hear about what you enjoyed there.  Do you have any recommendations on must-go travel spots?  I’m always looking to add new places to my list!

I love the picture of the Pool. It is so pretty. One thing on my bucket list is to go snorkeling. If I wasn’t afraid of planes I would take a trip there myself.

We day tripped to Playa del Carmen and stayed a full week in Cozumel and loved both areas! Both have more character than the tourist scene in Cancun proper, which I visited with family a few years ago. Next time you go I highly recommend visiting Xcaret; it’s an eco park a quick drive from Playa Del Carmen and was my favorite part of my last visit 🙂

Finally tried @dintaifungusa and wow! So good! Her Finally tried @dintaifungusa and wow! So good! Here’s what we ordered:

🌟Cucumber Salad - a bright and light starter I’d love to make these at home (and @glucosegoddess would be proud!)
🌟String Beans with Garlic - I would have eaten 3 more orders of this had they not been $16/each. I’ve already been searching for copy cat recipes because they are just SO DAMN GOOD
🌟Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao - these are their classic soup dumpling and very yummy and chewy and I loved the soy-vinegar sauce pairing with it
🌟 Sticky Rice & Kurobuta Pork Shao Mai - these were recommended in a TikTok video but they weren’t my favorite. The rice plus the dough was just too much IMO
🌟 Chicken Spicy Wontons - these were very good! I would drink the bowl of sauce if no one was watching…
🌟 Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao - wow, what a great to end the meal! We don’t order dessert often but this really good. Love the melty creamy chocolate!

Can’t wait to go back! Have you been? You’ve got to try it!
I waited to share putting my 2023 vision board tog I waited to share putting my 2023 vision board together until late January because there it’s so much buzz around the new year and goal setting around the start of the new year…but how about waiting until the buzz around it starts to fade? I’ve been committed since 12/31/2022 but if you need some fresh inspiration for 2023…here you go!

Last year I made a digital vision board in Canva with about 8 vague photos and I never looked at it. This year, I got a huge poster board and nearly 100 very specific images of the things I want. VERY specific. In the short 3 weeks having this propped up in my office and seeing it each day, I’m already seeing the needle moving on these items!

Have you created a vision board or set goals for 2023? What doe is mean to you? How are you achieving your goals this year? #goalsetting #visionboard
