It drives me crazy that I’m writing a post about acne because I’m years away from my teenage years yet I still have trouble with acne from now and again. I first started getting acne around 15 or 16 and it was really bad. I would use all of the drugstore products with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid trying to dry out the pimples to clear them up. I even did a round of Accutane, which if you’re not aware is probably the most intense acne medication treatment out there and it wreaks havoc on your skin (super flaky and dry skin, I remember it being so painful!). Fast forward to my 20s and I would still get breakouts from time to time based on my stress level, hormones, who knows to be honest.
Since my high school acne experience, I’ve learned much more about about what products work best for my skin and I’ve learned that drying it out with harsh creams isn’t the way to go. Stripping out the natural oils from your face can signal your body to produce more oil and over compensate for the drying–ouch.
I’ve since updated my acne-clearing routine for those days when an unwanted blemish pops up and have been including the Apothederm Acne Clarifying System. This trio-system includes a Brightening Cleanser, Clarifying Toner, and Acne Clarifying Treatment. Its great to have found an option that can help clear up my acne while still delivering benefits to my skin to keep it toned and refined.
The Brightening Cleanser contains malic acid and vitamin C to help with anti-aging and dull skin which is a must for me. I’ll cleanse with this (I typically just keep it in the shower and use it while my conditioner is sitting on) and then move on to the Clarifying Toner. I’ll admit, I’ve always considered toner to be an unnecessary step before I knew better; previously I felt it dried my skin out almost to a tightened affect. But with this Clarifying Toner, I’m able to get that extra deep pore clean without feeling dried out thanks to green tea, aloe vera, and Oligopeptide-10 (an anti-inflammatory peptide to reduce skin imperfections). And for the last step in the trio, the Acne Clarifying Treatment! I’m embarrassed to say that in my teen years I would apply acne cream as a layer on top of my entire face instead of on each individual spot. I know–the thought makes me cringe too. Perhaps I thought it would help better but I’ve since learned and now have been using this clarifying treatment targeted to specific breakouts to make them drastically reduce overnight.
Acne will always be something that I struggle with, it’s just the cards that I was dealt! But at least I’ve figured out the ingredients that help me banish the blemishes the best that I can!

This is perfect for me to pass along to my son! He needs to work harder on his skin, and he wants this type of product (as long as I pay!).
I am in my thirties and still get breakouts. It’s awful and totally embarrassing! I plan to look into the Apothederm line.
I really need to give this a try, I have to admit I still suffer with spots and I really need to find something that helps keep my skin look better.
I have never grown out of my acne stage, unfortunately. While my skin has clamed some since high school, I still have random breakouts, and I need something that treats acne while working on anti aging effects so this would be great. I will have to give this a try.

I get adult acne from time to time and it drives me nuts! I don’t like the harsh acne products I’ve tried in the past, but I would love to try Apothederm to see how well it works with my skin.

Awesome products! I’ve never tried these before but it’s good to have products like this that are reliable when it comes to taking care of your skin. I deal with break outs from time to time especially when I didn’t get enough sleep and this could help.
That’s a lovely skin care regimen. I love that they all go together, instead of having to use three different brands all the time. The anti-aging cleanser would be something that I’d definitely appreciate.
Never heard of this line of skin care before. I have sensitive skin and I am careful when choosing products that I put on my face. I will have to read more about these products. I am happy that it worked for you.
