Dress: McGinn (scored via The Hunt and currently in my Poshmark closet…!) // Shoes: Dolce & Gabbana // Necklace: Belle Noel // Hat: H&M, similar from San Diego Hat Company // Bracelet: Leslie Danzis // Sunglasses: Target // Bag: Celine
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve uttered the sentence, “OMG where did you get that??”, while gushing over someone’s shoes, bag, necklace, dress, you name it. But given the popularity of image sharing apps like Pinterest, Tumblr, and Instagram–sometimes you’re not able to ask where to find the items you covet.
That was my issue a few weeks back when I saw this McGinn dress on Pinterest and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. I loved the sweetheart shape to it, the vintage-looking tulle peeking out of the bottom–it was the perfect dress for an upcoming event and I had to have it. So I clicked the link from the pinboard and it led me to a broken link…with no dress to be found. Broken link…broken fashionista heart!
Heartbroken over a fashion missed-connection, one of my friends told me about The Hunt. Being the tech lover that I am, I was excited to learn about a new platform making online shopping an interactive experience while helping you track down the products you’re craving. Here is how my experience went down…I started a hunt for the exact McGinn dress that I was looking for and posted it out to the community of over 250,000 active members. Within a few days, one of the community members had shared a link with me where they had seen the dress at an online retailer. Needless to say, I clicked ‘add to cart’ and was able to get my dress in time for the event! It was the perfection connection, all made possible by The Hunt community, so cool!
You can start your hunt for an item by uploading a photo or by connecting your Pinterest, Tumblr, or Instagram account. Users can start hunts for exact items, similar items, looks for less or ask other users to help them style items, and get real-time feedback from fashionistas from around the world. I love the idea of a site that is rewarding to find the item you’re looking for but also a place to contribute back and share your knowledge. It’s all about helping others find what they’re looking for so when you start a hunt, others will be likely to help you out as well.
I’m SO EXCITED that I discovered the The Hunt (and my McGinn dress!) and am glad to be able to share it with you too. Have you guys used The Hunt yet? I’d love to hear about your experience!
