WHY I DITCHED LASH EXTENSTIONS AND STARTED USING LASHIFY

Before becoming a mom, I looked forward to the appointments I would schedule for myself after work, or on lunch breaks. Going to the salon for some color, grabbing a lunchtime pedicure, and an hour and half lash extension appointment were some of my favorite times to chill out. As much as I do miss those “treat yourself” moments, I wouldn’t want to be spending my free time any other way than with my little guy. Prioritizing my time has become a huge learning curve as a parent, but there have been so many ways I have been able to accomplish this, including doing some of my own beauty treatments at home. Like Lashify lashes.  As you know, I’ve always been a huge lover of all things beauty, so when I heard that I could do my own lash extensions at home, I was instantly curious!

Lashify Lashes

My Lash Extension Experience

For over 3 years, I dedicated a great deal of time (and money) to have a professional lash tech give me eyelash extensions. I absolutely loved the salon and team that took care of me. Lash extensions, in general, are really a great way to feel good about yourself, no matter how much time or effort you have to put into your look. I really loved that I could have such a minimalist makeup look, without ever needing to put on mascara.

Once Harrison was born, I knew that there were definitely going to be times and instances where I just wasn’t going to be able to put on my full glam to go somewhere with him. Lash extensions were such a great confidence booster, even for when I needed to run out for more formula at a moments notice. I don’t think there will ever be a time when I don’t use false lashes of some sort, simply because of the convenience and time no longer wasted on my everyday routine! I used to spend about an hour and half each month to get my lashes refilled and looking good. I just knew that with that sort of regimen and time commitment, it was going to be hard to fit into my schedule with my baby and full time work. That being said, I still did my best to get in as often as I could to make sure they were staying full. I will say, as much as I love my lash extensions, it was just an added service I needed to get done before big events, which again, who the heck has time for that as a full time working mom!

Unfortunately, Covid has changed many plans for all of us. Not only are our gatherings with the ones we love harder to accomplish, but so many everyday parts of our lives have been uprooted. Knowing how bad California got hit, I had the expectations that I wouldn’t be returning to a salon for quite some time. I knew I definitely needed something to bridge the gap, especially as the working from home zoom meetings became more and more frequent. I started losing some of my lash extensions as we got more into this quarantine and knew I had to find a solution, fast! So, as anyone would, I started checking out at-home methods, and strip lashes seemed to be the most common. I wasn’t a huge fan of the majorly dramatic and fluffy lashes so I opted for a few lighter options. After giving a few brands a go, I was finding that the strip lashes just weren’t for me.

My Lashify Experience

Feeling defeated after my first DIY lash attempt at home, I was complaining to my friend about how much I missed my lash extensions. She had recently given Lashify a try and could not stop raving about how wonderful the product was. At that point, I was already really intrigued, because I felt so bare without the comfort of my lashes always looking put together! She told me that she ordered The Control Kit a few months prior to our conversation, and now she was a frequent customer. I trust her and also knew that I desperately needed a lash solution that worked!

If you’re new to the lash extension world or even just new to Lashify, they really have a wonderful website that gives great tips and information about their product and lashes in general. I headed over to the FAQ page before I placed my order, and I am so glad that I did! There you can find out everything you would need to know about the lashes, the process, and which products you will need to buy.

To start out, you purchase The Control Kit which will be a one-time purchase via Lashify’s site. This kit will give you all of the tools you will need for your first application, and the tools for application for any additional fills you complete yourself! The application process is definitely not the easiest beauty regimen I have ever done, but now that I’ve done a few rounds, I definitely feel more comfortable and confident in the process.

One of the greatest aspect of Lashify, in my opinion, is their revolutionary take on false lashes. Their patented Gossamer lash is hand-made and virtually weightless. I feel like Lashify really put in their research and experimentation to create a product that seamlessly fit on the underside of our lashes, making them blend in so well with natural lashes. Another unique aspect of the Gossamer lash is the fact that were designed to slowly disintegrate after several uses to avoid damaging any of your natural lashes. While not completely water proof, they are water resistant, so normal activities like swimming and showering won’t impact them too much, though too much exposure to heat or moisture could diminish the bond between your lashes and the false ones.

Now that I’ve been hooked on Lashify for a few months now, I’ve been able to experiment with different colors and textures that they provide. Right now I have a few favorites that I alternate between when I place my orders. My first bunch of favorites are the Core Gossamer Curl lashes in sizes C14 and C12, Volume Gossamer Fluffy using the size F12 and also Volume Gossamer Fluffy Truffle in size F12. I use a little bit of both sets in the black and brown colors. I feel like this gives me a really good natural look while also giving them volume and a wispy length! Lashify offers most of their lashes in a wide variety of lengths, so I definitely had to experiment a little before finding the perfect length that matched my natural ones.

My experience thus far with Lashify has been beyond amazing and anyone who I have spoken to over the past few months have definitely heard me rave about them! I am still new and no expert yet but the results have been so pleasing, I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. I’ve saved myself time, money, yet I still feel confident and ready to jump into a zoom meeting at a moment’s notice.

Have you tried Lashify lashes yet? Let me know about all of them in the comments!

I think about this ALL. THE. TIME. ✨ I think about this ALL. THE. TIME. ✨
✨ Harrison Finnley Michaels 12/8/2019 ✨ Three ✨ Harrison Finnley Michaels 12/8/2019 ✨
Three months with this little guy and our worlds are rocked. He’s gone from just opening his eyes to rolling over, pushing himself up, grabbing at toys (and my phone as I type this out). He loves to laugh and talk in his baby language all day long 🤣 and sleeps all through the night 🙌🏼 How did we get so blessed with him?! @kmichaels216
Wedding Bells 💍 We are finally diving into some Wedding Bells 💍
We are finally diving into some wedding planning after our engagement last year and not going to lie, it’s overwhelming! We are super laid back and are looking for something small to celebrate. For me, this day isn’t about a big, fancy dress, or hundreds of guests to entertain. It’s about spending time with Kevin and I together committing our lives to one another. I was recommended to check out @shutterfly’s The Wedding Shop and mocked up an invite in this beautiful botanical print perfectly personalized to us and our style. Love our custom candle (smells so good!) and champagne flutes too! Check out my stories for more behind the scenes of unpacking our wedding items and some close ups! #MyShutterfly (ad)
CATCHING UP, what do you have going on this week? CATCHING UP, what do you have going on this week?
• This morning I had an eye exam to check my contacts / glasses Rx. I shared new glasses on Stories but turns out the Rx was wrong in them. I’m TRYING to wear my glasses more around the house and splurged on a pair from @ysl hoping that would help me do it 🤣🤓
• I haven’t been a big concealer wearer but I’ve been testing out the @urbandecaycosmetics naked concealer and have been liking how light it feels on my skin (I’m wearing it here, dress is new from @urbanoutfitters!)
• A work-related project this week—I’m trying to get my inbox of 700 emails down to zero. My problem is that I’ll get an email with some great piece of info in it and think “oh this is great! I can’t work on this right now but I’ll save for when I can” and I mark it unread. Well over time that has added up to 700 😬 I’m thinking of tackling it by sorting through and noting down whatever idea it is in my notebook (paper planner for LIFE! 📒) to reference it and have them all in one place. Maybe this will work!
• I’m currently sitting here watching this little baby sleep and the whole “I want to eat this baby” thing is SO REAL. What is it about babies where it makes us say that?!? He loves his @bibs_usa and @mushie_co!
• I’m considering cutting 3-4 inches from my hair....but here’s the kicker...I have this weird urge to DO IT MYSELF. Maybe I don’t want to put it off until I can get an appointment but I just want to cut it now. Please you guys, talk me out of doing this with scissors in the bathroom 🤣✂️
• Kevin and I have been binge watching @abcscandal and it’s SO ADDICTING. If you haven’t watched it, join us on Netflix but don’t blame me when you’re 2 episodes past your bedtime 😜 we are currently on season 4 of 7!
• WHAT ARE YOU UP TO THIS WEEK???
NEW MOM FASHION AND BEAUTY HACKS: 💁🏼‍♀️
1️⃣ Style your hair once ride that beautiful hair through the week with minimal effort. I use the @t3micro curling wand on day 1 fresh hair to put a little curl in it. On days 2-4 I use dry shampoo—my favorite is @livingproofinc to soak up oil, and then on days 5+ when dry shampoo doesn’t cut it anymore I throw on a cute beanie
2️⃣ Still trying to “bounce back” (whatever that means...) after baby? Same mama, same. @spanx leather-look leggings suck it all in and help as a postpartum support during healing. Win win!
3️⃣ Duster coats are the ONLY thing I want to wear. Not only do they keep you cozy as we wait for spring, but having pockets is NECESSARY for me. Phone in one, pacifier in another, and whatever other random things I need to bring with me when my arms are full with a baby
4️⃣ Lots of undereye concealer for that 8 hours of sleep look. @tartecosmetics shape tape is a favorite but I’ve been testing out @urbandecaycosmetics stay naked concealer and really like it for more natural coverage
MAMAS, WEIGH IN: What are you mom fashion and beauty hacks?! #newmomhacks
Our morning walk ritual ☺️ It’s still been a Our morning walk ritual ☺️
It’s still been a bit chilly out in the mornings but that doesn’t stop us from bundling up (in matching hats no less!) and going for a walk around our neighborhood. Baby carrying is a wonderful thing once you get the hang of it! I love how it gives you a bit of a workout with the added weight of a baby (Harrison is 11lbs now!) and gives them a chance to look around with a different view than the stroller. I can’t wait until he’s big enough to be front facing and then he can really look out at the world. I’ve been using the @nuna_usa @potterybarnkids CUDL carrier (this fabric is the broken arrow caviar) and my favorite feature are the magnetic clips that automatically snap into place to hold baby snugly. #lovemypbk
