I just cannot get over how gorgeous fall is and all of the fashion that comes along with it. I once read a quote that stated, “Isn’t a coat the sartorial equivalent of a piecrust, an inferior exterior ruining the whole damn thing?”. I understand where the speaker was coming from (hey, sometimes the piecrust isn’t all that good!), but I’d have to say that I disagree.
My brother Andrew and I styled two fall coats from Joules and I think its safe to say we have found our favorite pieces of the season. For our weekend activities (which included lunch in San Francisco’s Mission district and birthday present shopping for friends), I chose a classic trench coat because I know its a closet staple piece that will be an element of my fall outfits for years to come. I love the way trench coats can be tied at the waist rather than being properly buckled–its such an easy way to make a more tailored piece more casual. I kept with the classic theme with my plaid pencil skirt and the most perfect. pump. ever. by Elie Tahari.
Andrew wore the Landsdale wax jacket from the selection of Joules men’s coats which has this really cool waxy finish to it which is great to battle the elements of rain or snow (or misty fog in the case of San Francisco!). He kept the warm tones going as well and opted for a burnt orange skinny chino and perfectly worn-in Sperry boots. Andrew is always rocking cool shades and his wooden sunglasses from WOOED are no exception. These sunglasses are actually made from reclaimed zebrawood which happens to be the same wood as my dining table at home, a handmade gift from my father. How cool is that?
Do you have a favorite fall coat? Are you a fan of the classic coats or do you prefer a more unique piece to wear for fall?
